Regarding “The War That Won’t Let Us Go” [Sept. 16]: In response to the fatal shootings at Kent State University in Ohio in 1970, some of us were able to organize a campuswide referendum (“ballots not bullets”) that had a mitigating effect and may have saved lives. Ken Burns’ “The Vietnam War” really strikes home.
