Mirotic injured in practice fight

The Chicago Bulls said forward Nikola Mirotic suffered multiple broken bones in his face as well as a concussion in a fight with teammate Bobby Portis during practice.

The team said Mirotic would probably need surgery and was out indefinite­ly. The Bulls said they were “evaluating disciplina­ry action” after Tuesday’s incident.

Mirotic averaged 10.8 points over his first three seasons with Chicago. The Bulls open the season Thursday at Toronto.

Veteran forward Richard Jefferson, 37, agreed to a one-year deal with the Denver Nuggets, a person with knowledge of the negotiatio­ns told the Associated Press. Jefferson was recently waived by Atlanta after being dealt to the Hawks from the Cleveland Cavaliers. says the sportswear maker “outrageous­ly conspired” to funnel money to the family of a Cardinals recruit without his knowledge. Pitino’s lawsuit filed Tuesday came a day after Louisville’s Athletic Assn. fired him for cause after acknowledg­ing the program’s involvemen­t in a national federal bribery investigat­ion of college basketball. Ten people, including an Adidas executive, were arrested in the probe but Pitino is not named in the federal complaint. Hours after his firing Monday, Adidas terminated its personal services agreement with Pitino.

Bill Moos will receive a payment of $1.25 million if he still is Nebraska’s athletic director at the end of 2022, and he is eligible for some $500,000 in bonuses each year if teams achieve certain academic and on-field thresholds. Moos, who had been Washington State’s athletic director since 2010, was introduced as Nebraska’s AD on Sunday.
