Central Florida upsets Alabama 65-62

A.J. Davis made the goahead free throw with 25 seconds remaining, then Terrell Allen stole the ball on Alabama’s possession and fired the ball to Dayon Griffin for an easy layup, and Central Florida defeated No. 24 Alabama 65-62 on Sunday at Tuscaloosa, Ala.

Allen finished with 16 points and eight assists.

The Knights (5-3) made five three-point baskets in the first half to keep it a sixpoint game heading into the final 20 minutes. They kept up the pace in the second half and finished shooting 47% on three-pointers.

Donta Hall had 20 points and four blocks for the Crimson Tide (6-2).

Seton Hall 79, at No. 17 Louisville 77: Desi Rodriguez had a season-high 29 points, including an off-balance bank shot with eight seconds remaining to lift the Pirates (7-1), who have won three games in a row. Deng Adel had 20 points for the Cardinals (4-2).

at No. 13 North Carolina 97, Tulane 73: Luke Maye had 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Tar Heels (8-1), who shot a season-best 65.5% from the field. Melvin Frazier scored 27 points for the Green Wave (6-2), who hadn’t allowed an opponent to shoot better than 50%.

at No. 3 Michigan State 86, Nebraska 57: Nick Ward matched his season high with 22 points and the Spartans (7-1) won their sixth consecutiv­e game. The Cornhusker­s (6-3) kept the game close for about 10 minutes, but the Spartans took control with a 16-4 run that gave them a 34-16 lead late in the first half.

at No. 5 Notre Dame 71, Brooklyn St. Francis 53: Martinas Geben had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Fighting Irish (7-1), who lost All-American Bonzie Colson and coach Mike Brey to ejections with 6 minutes 2 seconds to play. Colson was hit with a flagrant foul and Brey was tossed for arguing the call. There were 32 fouls, 21 by the Terriers (2-6).

at No. 12 Minnesota 89, Rutgers 67: Nate Mason scored a season-high 26 points to lead the Gophers (8-1) in the Big Ten Conference opener for both teams. Freshman forward Mamadou Doucoure had 13 points and nine rebounds for the Scarlet Knights (6-2).

WOMEN

No. 1 Connecticu­t 80, No. 3 Notre Dame 71: Katie Lou Samuelson scored 18 points, Azura Stevens had 17 and the Huskies (7-0) rallied from an 11-point fourthquar­ter deficit in the Jimmy V Women’s Classic at Hartford, Conn. The Huskies trailed 65-54 before scoring 21 of the next 26 points in front of a sellout crowd of 15,558 in XL Center. Marina Mabrey scored 21 points and Arike Ogunbowale had 19 for the Irish (7-1).
