Federer set to become oldest No. 1 player

Roger Federer added another highlight to his age-defying career resurgence by returning to the top of the world rankings on Friday after more than five years and becoming the oldest No. 1 at 36.

“What an amazing run it’s been and a journey it’s been for me to clinch world No. 1,” Federer said.

Beating leading Dutch player Robin Haase 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 in the quarterfin­als at the ABN AMRO World Tournament means Federer becomes the oldest player — male or female — to top the tennis rankings. He surpasses Andre Agassi, who held the men’s record at age 33.

Federer will leapfrog 31-year-old Rafael Nadal to No. 1 when the rankings are released Monday.

Earlier Friday, Grigor Dimitrov beat Andrey Rublev 6-3, 6-4 to reach the semifinals, where he will meet 2017 finalist David Goffin, who progressed when his quarterfin­al opponent Tomas Berdych pulled out sick. tight ends and special teams.

McClure was also UCLA’s recruiting coordinato­r under Mora and had been widely hailed for his knowledge of the inner workings of the school’s admissions and academics department­s.

Miami-Dade County is suing former Miami Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria and the new ownership group led by Derek Jeter, seeking money from the $1.2-billion sale of the team. The suit contends a 2009 agreement calls for the county and city of Miami to receive a share of profits from any sale of the team. The deal was related to an agreement to finance the team’s ballpark that opened in 2012 and was built mostly with taxpayer money.
