Sharma, 21, leads in Mexico

- Americans Morgan Hurd and Yul Moldauer won all-around gold medals at the America Cup, the first major internatio­nal gymnastics competitio­n of 2018.

Shubhankar Sharma, a 21-year-old from India, leads some of golf ’s biggest names going into the final round of the Mexico Championsh­ip. Sharma holed a 15-foot par putt on the final hole at Chapultepe­c Golf Club for a two-under 69. Two shots behind were Phil Mickelson and Sergio Garcia, along with Rafa Cabrera Bello and Tyrrell Hatton . ... Steve Stricker lost the Cologuard Classic lead when he drove into the water on the par-five 18th in a closing double bogey. Stricker is a stroke behind Tommy Tolles with a round left on Omni Tucson National’s Catalina Course . ... George Coetzee opened a two-shot lead heading into the final round of the Tshwane Open. Mikko Korhonen and Sam Horsfield are tied for second.

In one of the most fundamenta­l changes ever to soccer's 155-year-old rules, FIFA approved video review and cleared the way to use it at the World Cup in June. The video assistant referees have gotten mixed results from trials in top-level games.

Utah defensive lineman Lowell Lotulelei says Michigan defensive lineman Maurice Hurst Jr. told him that he had been diagnosed with the same heart condition as Lotulelei's older brother, Star. The comments came shortly after ESPN.com first reported Hurst will not be allowed to participat­e in drills. Hurst had been rising steadily on mock draft boards . ... Two people familiar with the situation say the New Orleans Saints and free-agent safety Kurt Coleman agreed to terms of a three-year deal.

Promises Fulfilled was a surprise wire-to-wire winner in the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth, one of the big early preps on the road to the Kentucky Derby. Starting from the outside post, Promises Fulfilled went straight to the lead and kept holding off challenger­s as he made his way around 11⁄16 miles of the dirt at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale, Fla. It was the third win in four starts for Promises Fulfilled, who went off at 18-1 and paid $38.40 after winning in 1 minute, 44.17 seconds. Strike Power was second.

World record-holder Christian Coleman added the championsh­ip record to his growing list of achievemen­ts in winning the 60 meters at the world athletics indoors. Coleman smashed Maurice Greene’s 20-year-old world record last month by clocking 6.34 seconds and he came within 0.03 seconds of that at Arena Birmingham. The American beat Su Bingtian of China by 0.05 and U.S. teammate Ronnie Baker by 0.07.

The Tampa Bay Rays have finalized a $4-million, one-year contract with free-agent outfielder Carlos Gomez. He had 17 home runs and 51 RBIs in 105 games for the Texas Rangers last season.

Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain earned his second ATP title of the year when he beat Lucas Pouille of France 6-3, 6-4 in the Dubai Championsh­ips final . ... Fabio Fognini of Italy and Nicolas Jarry of Chile will play the Brazil Open final on Sunday. Fognini beat defending champ Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay 6-4, 6-2 on Saturday. Jarry overcame Argentina’s Horacio Zeballos 6-7 (5), 6-4, 6-4.
