Exploring food cultures
Six Taste organizes food tours that typically stop at four to seven restaurants in locations that include the San Gabriel Valley, Santa Monica, downtown L.A., Koreatown and Hollywood. The Food Bowl walking tours will delve into the cultural aspects of some of L.A.’s most dynamic culinary neighborhoods, providing history and insight into how immigrants have come to settle in various regions and establish their own food cultures.
The Food Bowl-exclusive Walk + Taste neighborhood itineraries (in Thai Town, the San Gabriel Valley, Koreatown and Downtown Los Angeles) will feature signature and culturally significant dishes — some of them from restaurants that are favorites of the L.A. Times food staff — in addition to historic sightseeing and some surprise guests.
WHERE/WHEN: Thai Town (Saturday, May 5, noon - 4 p.m.); Koreatown (Saturday, May 12, 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.); SGV Dumpling Tour (Saturday, May 19 + Sunday, May 20, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.); Downtown LA (Thursday, May 31, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.)
