AUTONOMY FARMS

-

Kern County, a very productive farming region, just the other side of the Grapevine and an hour and 27 minutes from downtown L.A., is home to Autonomy Farms, where farmer Meredith Bell is making a go of it — after years in the corporate world. Now, instead of spreadsheets, she has chickens and livestock and vegetables and a farm dog. The guest chefs for this event are steeped in the storied culinary traditions of Mexico: Bricia Lopez (and her siblings) are at the helm of Guelaguetza, which Jonathan Gold calls the best Oaxacan restaurant in the country. Chef Claudette Zepeda-Wilkins, a recent "Top Chef" competitor and the executive chef of San Diego's El Jardin, will contribute her bold take on the rich diversity of Mexico's regional cuisine. WHERE: Autonomy Farms WHEN: Sunday, May 27, 4 p.m. COST: $225 (includes beverages)
