Park MGM now open, replacing Monte Carlo

- — Jay Jones

The Park MGM, Las Vegas’ newest resort, opened Wednesday, replacing the Monte Carlo on the Strip.

Only the shell of the Monte Carlo, which opened in 1996, remains after a top-to-bottom makeover that includes a new lobby, new bars and restaurants and guest rooms with a homey feel.

Room rates for now will be lower than what visitors will find along the pricey Strip. The hotel’s rate calendar shows prices as low as $59 for some weekdays in May and June. That doesn’t include the resort fee or taxes.

The NoMad, a hotel-within-a-hotel that will occupy the top four floors of the resort, won’t open until fall.
