Sparks fall in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS — A’ja Wilson scored 29 points and the Las Vegas Aces knocked the Sparks out of first place in the WNBA standings with a 94-78 win.

Wilson had 21 points in the second half and finished with nine rebounds. Kelsey Plum added 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists for the Aces (6-11).

Chelsea Gray had 22 points, and Essence Carson added 17 for the Sparks (11-5).

The Aces trailed in the first quarter by nine, but took their first lead late in the quarter, 16-15, on a threepoint­er by Kayla McBride. The Sparks made it 34-34 with 2:06 to go in the second quarter after Chelsea Gray drained a three-pointer. But the Aces pulled away and took a sevenpoint halftime lead.

After winning five games in a row earlier in the month, the Sparks have lost three of their last five games.
