Langer shares lead at SAS Championsh­ip

Bernhard Langer birdied nine of the last 10 holes at rain-softened Prestonwoo­d for a 10-under 62 and share of the lead in the PGA Tour Champions’ SAS Championsh­ip in Cary, N.C.

Tom Lehman and Gene Sauers matched the 61-year-old Langer on the course that was dry enough to play after heavy rain from Hurricane Michael hit the area Thursday.

Gary Woodland shot an 11under 61 to tie the course record and join Marc Leishman in a share of the second-round lead at the PGA Tour’s CIMB Classic in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Woodland and Leishman (62) were at 14-under 130 on the revamped TPC Kuala Lumpur West course . ... No. 1ranked Sung Hyun Park and No. 2 Ariya Jutanugarn were among four sharing the lead after two rounds of the KEB Hana Bank Championsh­ip in Incheon, South Korea. Park shot a second straight four-under 68 and Jutanugarn was better with a 67 for two-round totals of eight-under 136 at the Sky 72 Ocean Course.

Lindsey Vonn has made it official: The 2018-19 ski season will be her last. The greatest female skier in history, Vonn stands just four victories short of Ingemar Stenmark’s all-time mark of 86 World Cup wins, with a chance to pass the Swedish legend this winter. — David Wharton

The NHL took the unusual step of criticizin­g the decision by arbitrator Shyam Das to reduce the suspension the league had imposed against Nashville Predators forward Austin Watson for a domestic assault.

The league had suspended Watson for 27 games, but after an appeal, Das reduced that to 18 games. — Helene Elliott
