Thunder win even without Westbrook

Dennis Schroder scored a season-high 28 points in replacing injured star Russell Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 95-86 Wednesday night.

Westbrook sprained his left ankle Monday, but the Thunder withstood Cleveland’s fourth-quarter run without the one-time MVP to win its sixth straight game after starting the season 0-4.

Paul George added 18 points for Oklahoma City. Cleveland rookie point guard Collin Sexton scored 15 points in his first start with George Hill out with a sore right shoulder.

Detroit 103, at Orlando 96: Andre Drummond had 23 points and 19 rebounds, and the Pistons ended a five-game losing streak. Blake Griffin added 20 points. Evan Fournier led Orlando with 27 points.

at Miami 95, San Antonio 88:

Hassan Whiteside had 29 points, 20 rebounds and an NBA seasonhigh nine blocked shots as the Heat stopped a four-year drought against San Antonio.

New York 112, at Atlanta 107: Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 27 of his 34 points in the second half, reserve Enes Kanter added 17 points and 11 rebounds, and New York halted a two-game skid.

Philadelph­ia 100, at Indiana 94:

Joel Embiid scored 20 points and Ben Simmons nearly posted a triple double as the 76ers ended a five-game losing streak and won their first road game this season.

at Memphis 89, Denver 87: Marc Gasol scored 20 points, including the go-ahead free throws with 4.6 seconds remaining to snap the Nuggets’ five-game winning streak.

at New Orleans 107, Chicago 98:

Anthony Davis had 32 points and 15 rebounds, and the Pelicans ended a six-game skid. Davis also blocked four shots in his best game since spraining his right elbow nearly two weeks ago.

at Utah 117, Dallas 102: Donovan Mitchell scored 23 points in his return from an ankle injury as the Jazz ended a four-game skid. Mitchell also had seven assists and five rebounds. Alec Burks added 18 points off the bench.

Toronto 114, at Sacramento 105:

Kawhi Leonard scored 25 points and had 11 rebounds in his return from an ankle injury in leading the Raptors to an NBA-best 11-1 record. Willie Cauley-Stein led the Kings with 24 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
