76ers outlast Jazz in Butler’s home debut

Jimmy Butler scored 28 points in his home debut and the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Utah Jazz 113-107 on Friday night.
Butler, the four-time All-Star acquired from Minnesota, got a loud ovation during introductions and quickly made an impression as the 76ers built a 16-point lead.
“I already knew this crowd would be excited,” Butler said. “Now that I have them on my side it’s better for me.”
Utah led 107-105 with 1:37 left but went scoreless the rest of the way. Butler had a bucket with 19.4 seconds left for a four-point lead.

Kyrie Irving had 11 straight Celtics points down the stretch and scored 17 in the last 8:06 of the fourth quarter. Then in overtime, he really turned it on. Irving made or assisted on every basket in the extra period, finishing with a seasonhigh 43 points and 11 assists.
at New Orleans 129, New York 124:
Anthony Davis scored a seasonhigh 43 points and had 17 rebounds for the Pelicans, who overcame an 11-point, fourth-quarter deficit. The Knicks led by as many as 19 before losing their fourth in a row.
Brooklyn 115, at Washington 104:
The Nets won their first game without leading scorer Caris LeVert, who dislocated his right foot Monday. Spencer Dinwiddie scored a season-best 25 points and D’Angelo Russell added 23 as Brooklyn snapped a three-game skid.
at Minnesota 112, Portland 96: The Timberwolves held Portland to a season low in points and improved to 7-1 at home. Andrew Wiggins scored 23 points and all five starters scored in double figures.
at Indiana 99, Miami 91: Tyreke Evans made five three-pointers and scored a season-high 23 points off the bench for the Pacers. Domantas Sabonis added 15 points and 12 rebounds, also off the bench.
at Memphis 112, Sacramento 104:
Rookie Jaren Jackson Jr. scored a season-high 27 points and Marc Gasol added 19 for the Grizzlies. Gasol also pulled down 15 rebounds to become Memphis’ alltime leading rebounder.
at Milwaukee 123, Chicago 104:
Down 63-45 at halftime, the Bucks outscored the Bulls 46-17 in the third quarter and took the lead for good. Eric Bledsoe scored 25 points and Khris Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo each added 23.
