- By Mike Coppinger sports@latimes.com

The Ducks’ short run of good health has come to a screeching halt.

Backup goaltender Ryan Miller exited Anaheim’s game with New Jersey on Sunday after a collision with teammate Josh Mahura in the third period. The Ducks announced Tuesday that Miller suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament and will be out about six weeks. He will be reevaluated in two weeks.

Miller has a 4-2-1 record with a 2.72 goals-against average and a .922 save percentage in 10 games this season. He is tied with John Vanbiesbrouck for the most wins (374) by a U.S.-born goalie.

The Ducks claimed Chad Johnson off waivers from the St. Louis Blues in a corresponding move. He’s strug- gled this season: The goalie is 2-6-0 with a 3.54 goals-against average and an .884 save percentage in 10 games.

Meanwhile, there is no timetable for Rickard Rakell’s return. The left wing sprained an ankle against the Chicago Blackhawks on Dec. 5.

Rakell, the Ducks’ lone AllStar last season, is second on the team in assists (15) and points (20). He scored a teamhigh 34 goals last season. TONIGHT VS.
