Gonzalez has Brewers deal

A person familiar with the negotiatio­ns told the Associated Press that left- handed pitcher Gio Gonzalez and the Milwaukee Brewers have agreed to a $ 2- million, oneyear contract.

The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity Wednesday because the agreement had not been announced.

Gonzalez, 33, was 10- 11 with a 4.21 earned- run average last season for Washington and Milwaukee, which acquired him Aug. 31. He was 3- 0 in f ive starts for the Brewers.

Gonzalez was 2- 1 with a 6.00 ERA in three starts and 15 innings with the New York Yankees’ triple- A team before being released Monday.

Guerrero Jr. to make debut in the big leagues

Third baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will make his major league debut Friday, Toronto Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo said.

The Blue Jays are hosting the Oakland Athletics after having Thursday off.

Guerrero, the son of the Hall of Fame member by the same name, was two for f ive, including a home run, for triple- A Buffalo on Wednesday.

In eight games with Buffalo, the 20- year- old slugger is batting .367 with three home runs and eight runs batted in.

After the weekend series with the Athletics, the Blue Jays head to Anaheim to face the Angels, the team Guerrero’s father starred with for six seasons.
