Internatio­nal court to rule in sex-testing case

An internatio­nal court has announced it will render its muchawaite­d ruling in the Caster Semenya case Wednesday, determinin­g whether track officials can enforce severe restrictio­ns on women female runners who have naturally high testostero­ne levels. The decision had been expected earlier but was postponed while the Court of Arbitratio­n for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerlan­d, reviewed additional materials. — David Wharton

UCLA hired Pacific’s Ryan Jorden as men’s soccer coach, the school announced, one month after Jorge Salcedo resigned in the wake of his alleged involvemen­t in accepting $200,000 in bribes to help enroll two players using fake athletic profiles. — Ben Bolch

USC earned the No. 1 seed and UCLA the No. 3 seed for the NCAA women’s water polo championsh­ip that will be held May 7-12 at Stanford. The Trojans (26-1) play in a quarterfin­al May 10 against the winner of an opening-round game between Wagner and UC San Diego. The Bruins (23-6) meet Michigan in a quarterfin­al. Cal Lutheran (20-8) plays Pacific in the first round with the winner playing No. 2 Stanford in a quarterfin­al . ... USC will host Northern Arizona on Friday and UCLA will host Grand Canyon on the same day in the first round of the NCAA men’s tennis championsh­ip. On Saturday, the UCLA women’s team hosts Northern Arizona and USC hosts Illinois State. The Pepperdine women host Fairfield on Friday. Long Beach State plays California on Friday at Pepperdine.
