International court to rule in sex-testing case

An international court has announced it will render its muchawaited ruling in the Caster Semenya case Wednesday, determining whether track officials can enforce severe restrictions on women female runners who have naturally high testosterone levels. The decision had been expected earlier but was postponed while the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland, reviewed additional materials. — David Wharton

USC earned the No. 1 seed and UCLA the No. 3 seed for the NCAA women’s water polo championship that will be held May 7-12 at Stanford. Cal Lutheran (20-8) plays Pacific in the first round with the winner playing No. 2 Stanford in a quarterfinal . ... USC will host Northern Arizona on Friday and UCLA will host Grand Canyon on the same day in the first round of the NCAA men’s tennis championship.
