Messi again hits 50-goal season mark

-

Lionel Messi scored twice to hit the 50-goal mark for the sixth time in his career. Messi scored his 49th and 50th goals in all competitions this season to give Barcelona a 2-2 draw at Eibar and finished as the league’s top scorer with 36 goals for the Spanish champions.

Real Madrid endured the jeers of its own frustrated fans after a 2-0 loss to Real Betis at Santiago Bernabeu. Madrid entered the match with nothing to play for, locked into a third-place finish for the second consecutive season for the first time since 1974.

The race for the final two Champions League spots from Serie A will go to the last day of the season. Atalanta drew 1-1 at Italian champion Juventus to move into third place in the Italian league, leapfrogging Inter Milan after the Nerazzurri lost 4-1 at Napoli. With one round left, the two teams are tied but Atalanta is above Inter thanks to a better head-to-head record.

Vincent Kompany said he is leaving Manchester City after 11 seasons. The Belgium defender announced his decision on his socialmedia channels a day after captaining City in its FA Cup final win over Watford.
