Ex-Duke standout Pelicans’ new GM

The New Orleans Pelicans hired Brooklyn Nets assistant general manager Trajan Langdon, 43, to serve as New Orleans’ general manager under new executive vice president of basketball operations David Griffin.

Langdon is a former Duke and NBA player who also played profession­ally in Russia, Turkey and Italy. He has served as Nets assistant general manager since 2016 and helped rebuild Brooklyn into a squad that qualified for the Eastern Conference playoffs as a sixth seed this season after finishing last in the East two seasons earlier.

Assuming all goes well in the coming weeks, trainer Mark Casse said “there’s an extremely good shot” Preakness winner War of Will will race in the Belmont Stakes on June 8 in New York.
