Stewart, Gibbs among five headed to Hall

Tony Stewart and friends are heading to the NASCAR Hall of Fame. The three-time Cup Series champion will be inducted alongside his former car owner Joe Gibbs and teammate Bobby Labonte. Driver Buddy Baker and mechanic Waddell Wilson rounded out the Class of 2020.

“It totally changed from watching my moment to enjoying seeing the guy who helped build my career with Joe and then following that up with Bobby,” Stewart said about hearing his name called first. “It wasn’t about me. It was about all of us and this whole group that was going in.”

The NFL’s draft road show is headed to Cleveland in 2021 and Kansas City in 2023. No announceme­nt has been made about 2020. Next year it will be in Las Vegas a few months before the Raiders move there . ... Tennessee agreed to terms on a deal with its top draft pick, Mississipp­i State defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons.

Former NFL player Cierre Marcelle Wood, 28, was ordered to stand trial on murder and child abuse charges in the death of his girlfriend’s 5-year-old daughter soon after they moved into his Las Vegas apartment this year. Wood’s girlfriend, 25-yearold Amy Taylor, is jailed and faces a separate preliminar­y hearing.

The Internatio­nal Olympic Committee set up a vote on removing the sport’s governing body AIBA from organizing bouts at the 2020 Tokyo Games. The move will go before the full IOC at its June 24-26 meeting. The IOC intends to keep boxing’s 13 medal events on the Tokyo program.
