Shields fight off after altercatio­n

Claressa Shields’ first pro fight in her hometown of Flint, Mich., was called off after an altercatio­n before the weigh-in left her opponent’s trainer hospitaliz­ed.

Ivana Habazin was supposed to make her U.S. debut against Shields, the twotime Olympic gold medalist trying to become a three-division champion. But James Ali Bashir, the veteran trainer for Habazin, was struck by an unidentifi­ed person and knocked unconsciou­s after a confrontat­ion with Shields’ camp.
