-

No. 16 Michigan 45, at Illinois 25: Hassan Haskins ran for 125 yards and a touchdown, Zach Charbonnet added 116 yards rushing, and the Wolverines needed a late surge to put away Illinois. The Wolverines built a 28-0 lead by halftime, but turnovers and ineffective offense helped the Illini cut the lead to 28-25 with 12:50 left. Dre Brown ran in from a yard out and then converted a two-point conversion for the Illini.

at Indiana 35, Rutgers 0: Reakwon Jones raced 17 yards with a Rutgers fumble to score 10 seconds into the game and Indiana set a one-sided tone in a romp over the hapless Scarlet Knights. The Hoosiers scored three touchdowns in the opening 6:52, starting on the first play of the game. Indiana’s Demarcus Elliott drilled Rutgers quarterback Johnny Langan to force the fumble, which Jones scooped for the go-ahead score.

at Purdue 40, Maryland 14: Jack Plummer threw for 420 yards and three touchdowns and Cory Trice returned an interception for a score to break open the game just before halftime. The Boilermakers snapped a three-game losing streak with their most lopsided win since upsetting No. 2 Ohio State last October. Maryland still hasn’t won consecutive conference road games since 2014.

at No. 8 Wisconsin 38, Michigan State 0: Jonathan Taylor rushed for two touchdowns and Wisconsin’s defense posted its fourth shutout of the season. The Spartans’ defense held Taylor to 80 yards in 26 carries, marking the first time this season the Heisman Trophy hopeful was held under 100. But Michigan State was held to 149 yards, 30 rushing, and couldn’t find any rhythm as the Badgers dominated time of possession 39:10 to 20:50.

No. 10 Penn State 17, at No. 17 Iowa 12: Noah Cain scored on a five-yard run with 5:17 left in the fourth quarter to help the Nittany Lions hold off the Hawkeyes. Shannon Brooks ran for 99 yards, Mo Ibrahim had 84 yards and three touchdowns, and the Gophers stayed in a tie for first place in the Big Ten West Division with rival Wisconsin behind an all-around performance that had the Huskers on their heels all evening.

No. 1 Alabama 47, at No. 24 Texas A&M 28: Tua Tagovailoa threw four touchdowns and the Crimson Tide offense kept rolling in Alabama’s first game at No. 1 this season with a victory over the Aggies. Tagovailoa had a pass intercepted for the first time this season but became Alabama’s career passing touchdowns leader with his first one of the game, breaking his tie with A.J. McCarron. The junior now has 81 for his career and leads the nation with 27 for the season.

Missouri got great production from running backs Larry Rountree III, Dawson Downing and Tyler Badie.

at Kentucky 24, Arkansas 20: Lynn Bowden accounted for three touchdowns in his first start at quarterback, including the go-ahead 24-yard scoring run with 6:53 remaining, to rally the Wildcats past the Razorbacks and end a threegame losing streak. Kentucky’s top receiver took first-team snaps during the bye while banged-up Sawyer Smith recovered and was announced as the starter before the game.

at Tennessee 20, Mississippi State 10: The Volunteers’ defense finally delivered the kind of performance that Jeremy Pruitt’s teams produced consistently during his career as an assistant coach. The Volunteers intercepted three passes, shut down SEC rushing leader Kylin Hill and withstood an injury to quarterback Brian Maurer in a victory over the Bulldogs. Tennessee ended a six-game skid against Football Bowl Subdivision opponents.

It was the first-ever matchup between the schools. Vanderbilt couldn’t generate much after its first drive of the game against the Rebels.

at No. 22 Baylor 33, Texas Tech 30 (2OT): JaMycal Hasty scored on a five-yard touchdown run in the second overtime to lift the Bears in their first game as a ranked team under coach Matt Rhule. Baylor’s Charlie Brewer was 24-of-37 passing for 352 yards, but threw his first three interceptions of the season. He ran for three touchdowns. Texas Tech got to the second overtime when T.J. Vasher made a diving two-yard catch on a nice lob throw by Jett Duffey for his only touchdown pass.
