at No. 23 Iowa 26, Purdue 20: Mekhi Sargent ran for a 14yard touchdown with 2 minutes 16 seconds to play and the Hawkeyes held on to end a skid at two games. Keith Duncan kicked four field goals for Iowa, which also ended a twogame losing streak to the Boilermake­rs. Purdue is the first team this season to score 20 points against Iowa. Indiana 34, at Maryland 28: Peyton Ramsey threw for 193 yards, Stevie Scott ran for 108 yards and two touchdowns, and the Hoosiers had 520 yards. Ramsey took over for freshman Michael Penix Jr. with 12 minutes left in the second quarter and went 20 for 27. Javon Leake ran for a career-high 158 yards and two touchdowns for the Terrapins. No. 20 Minnesota 42, at Rutgers 7: Rodney Smith ran for 111 yards and two touchdowns and the Gophers improved to 7-0 for the first time since winning the national title in 1960. It was Minnesota’s ninth victory in a row spanning two seasons, the program’s longest streak since 1941-42. The Scarlet Knights lost their 17th game in a row in the conference.

at No. 1 Alabama 35, Tennessee 13: With Tua Tagovailoa hurt, the Crimson Tide turned to the defense and Najee Harris to pull out a victory over the Volunteers. Alabama faced its first test of the season without last season’s Heisman Trophy runner-up against the five-touchdown underdogs. Both starting quarterbac­ks left the game before halftime, and Tennessee put up a fight much of the way.

No. 2 Louisiana State 36, at Mississipp­i State 13: Joe Burrow threw for 327 yards and four touchdowns to break the Tigers season record with 29 in LSU’s victory over the Bulldogs. The Tigers had 415 yards of total offense and averaged 6.9 yards per play. Mississipp­i State sacked Burrows three times and regularly confounded the Tigers on third down.

No. 9 Florida 38, at South Carolina 27: Kyle Trask threw for a career-high four touchdowns, three in the fourth quarter, to help the Gators bounce back from their loss at LSU and outlast the Gamecocks. Florida slogged through a soggy field from Tropical Storm Nestor for much of the game. But it eventually came to life and rallied past South Carolina.

at No. 10 Georgia 21, Kentucky 0: D’Andre Swift’s 39-yard touchdown run in the third quarter snapped a scoreless tie, and the Bulldogs overcame a slow start to beat the Wildcats. Swift, who ran for 179 yards, added a three-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Brian Herrien ran for 60 yards, including an eight-yard scoring run.

No. 11 Auburn 51, at Arkansas 10: Bo Nix was itching to get back on the field after struggling in a loss to Florida in his last start for the Tigers. The problem was the wait took two weeks as Auburn had a bye following the 24-13 loss. Nix didn’t waste much time moving on, throwing three touchdown passes including two in the span of 22 seconds in the third quarter as the Tigers routed the Razorbacks.

at Vanderbilt 21, No. 22 Missouri 14: Riley Neal came off the bench and threw a 21-yard touchdown to Cam Johnson with 8:57 left, and the Commodores upset the Tigers with a stifling defensive performanc­e. Ke’Shawn Vaughn ran for a touchdown and also took a screen 61 yards for another score as Vanderbilt snapped a three-game skid to Missouri after losing five of the previous seven in the series.

Texas A&M 24, at Mississipp­i 17: Buddy Johnson returned a fumble for a 62-yard go-ahead touchdown, and Isaiah Spiller added a clinching 22-yard touchdown run late as the Aggies rallied to defeat the Rebels. .

at No. 5 Oklahoma 52, West Virginia 14: Jalen Hurts passed for 316 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 75 yards and two more scores for the Sooners. Hurts completed 16 of 17 passes, with the incompleti­on a drop by freshman Drake Stoops. Hurts became the third Oklahoma quarterbac­k to complete at least 90% of his passes, throw for more than 300 yards and throw for at least three touchdowns in a game. He also recorded a career-high passing efficiency rating of 308.5, the second-best mark in program history. No. 18 Baylor 45, at Oklahoma State 27: Charlie Brewer completed 13 of 17 passes for 312 yards and a touchdown and ran for another score as the Bears extended their schoolreco­rd winning streak to nine games. Chuba Hubbard, the nation’s leading rusher, ran for 171 yards and two touchdowns in 32 carries for the Cowboys. Iowa State 34, at Texas Tech 24: Brock Purdy threw for 378 yards and three touchdowns, freshman Breece Hall ran 75 yards for the first of his two scores and the Cyclones took a big lead early lead and held on. The Red Raiders extended their longest losing streak in the series to four, dropping their second in a row this season since beating Oklahoma State for the best victory under first-year coach Matt Wells. at Kansas State 24, Texas Christian 17: Skylar Thompson accounted for two touchdowns and sparked a late gamewinnin­g drive for the Wildcats’ first win in over a month. With eight minutes to play and the score tied 17-17, Thompson had a 61-yard run during an 11-play, 95-yard drive, capped by his three-yard touchdown run with 2:45 to play.

Georgia Tech 28, at Miami 21 (OT): Antwan Owens blocked a Miami chip-shot field-goal attempt in the final seconds of regulation and Jordan Mason scored on a one-yard rush on the first possession of overtime for the Yellow Jackets. At 3-4, Miami matched its worst seven-game start in 22 years. at Virginia Tech 43, North Carolina 41 (6OT): Quincy Patterson’s two-point conversion run in the sixth overtime lifted the Hokies to a wild victory in the longest game in ACC history. Both teams squandered chances to win in earlier overtime periods, as Tech kicker Brian Johnson missed attempts from 41 and 42 yards and North Carolina kicker Noah Ruggles missed from 35 yards and had a 44-yard attempt blocked.

at Virginia 48, Duke 14: Bryce Perkins ran for three touchdowns and Wayne Taulapapa ran for two as the Cavaliers beat the Blue Devils for the fifth year in a row. The Cavaliers forced five turnovers in the key Coastal Division matchup and turned them into 20 points. Joe Reed also returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, his second kickoff return touchdown this season and fifth of his career. at Wake Forest 22, Florida State 20: Nick Sciba’s 25-yard field goal with 4:18 left in the game lifted the Demon Deacons. Florida State had taken a one-point lead about seven minutes earlier when James Blackman connected with Tamorrion Terry on a 36-yard pass play.
