Bellinger, Trout Silver Slugger winners

- Wire reports

Cody Bellinger was named a winner of the Silver Slugger award on Thursday. He’s the first Dodger to win the award since shortstop Corey Seager in 2017. Matt Kemp was the last Dodgers outfielder to win it in 2011.

Bellinger, 24, slashed .305/.406/ .629 with 47 home runs and 115 RBI in 156 games. He won a Gold Glove award as a right fielder earlier in the week and is one of three finalists for NL MVP.

He is the fifth Dodger to win a Silver Slugger and Gold Glove in the same season. Adrian Gonzalez was the previous Dodger to double up in 2014.

The Angels’ Mike Trout was also named a Silver Slugger award winner, extending his franchise record and joining Alex Rodriguez as the only players to win the award seven times by age 27.

Houston Astros President Reid Ryan is shifting to a lesser role and owner Jim Crane’s son Jared is joining the executive team. The moves come 11 days after Crane apologized to a Sports Illustrated reporter and retracted a statement by the club accusing her of trying to “fabricate a story.” ... Blue Jays second baseman Devon Travis refused an outright assignment to triple-A Buffalo and elected to become a free agent . ... The Seattle Mariners announced a trio of moves. Pete Woodworth is the new pitching coach, Carson Vitale the field coordinator and Jarret

DeHart the assistant hitting coach.
