Florida State’s Wilson out for the year
Florida State defensive tackle Marvin Wilson will miss the rest of the season due to a hand injury.
Interim head coach Odell Haggins Thursday announced that Wilson had surgery earlier this week. Wilson had 44 tackles and five sacks as a junior.
Haggins says that Wilson “will remain involved as a captain and respected leader for our team.”
The Seminoles (4-5, 3-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) are looking to become bowl eligible in the final three games of the season after coach Willie Taggart was dismissed.
The Seminoles must win two of those contests to after missing the postseason in 2018. Florida State finishes the season with a home game against FCS Alabama State and a road game vs. No. 10 Florida.
Florida State plays Boston College on Saturday.
Tagovailoa update
Alabama coach Nick Saban has yet to officially list quarterback Tua Tagovailoa as ready to return from an injury, but said he has practiced this week and is doing well.
Tagovailoa underwent a procedure in October after a high ankle sprain suffered against Tennessee. He’s passed for 2,166 yards, 27 touchdowns and two interceptions.
The Crimson Tide is preparing for a high-stakes tilt against Louisiana State in a matchup that could feature top Heisman hopefuls at the same position for the second time in five seasons in Tagovailoa and the Tigers’ Joe Burrow.

Georgia scheduled a home-and-home football series with Ohio State for 2030 and 2031, the schools announced. The Bulldogs will host the Buckeyes in Athens on Sept. 14, 2030, and travel to Columbus on Aug. 30, 2031. ...
