USC adds transfer from Long Beach St.

- staff and wire reports

The USC men’s basketball team added another transfer Friday, as Long Beach State center Joshua Morgan became the fourth player to join the Trojans this offseason.

Unlike the three before him — Santa Clara guard Tahj Eaddy, Utah Valley forward Isaiah White and Wofford big man Chevez Goodwin — Morgan joins the Trojans with more than one season of eligibility remaining.

When he’ll be eligible to play is still uncertain. The NCAA is expected to vote on a one-time transfer rule in the coming months. If that policy is passed, Morgan probably would be eligible next season.

As a freshman, the 6foot-11 Morgan was named Big West defensive player of the year. He was 19th in the nation with 2.5 blocks a game and averaged 8.4 points and 6.1 rebounds. — Ryan Kartje

Duke freshman big man Vernon Carey Jr. declared for the NBA draft, as did Arizona guard Josh Green. Iowa All-America center Luka Garza declared for the draft without an agent so he can maintain his eligibility. ... Ivy League scoring leader Mike Smith of Columbia said he’s transferring to Michigan . ... Kentucky landed a commitment from Creighton graduate transfer Davion Mintz.
