XFL suspends all operations
The eight-team XFL spring football league, which includes the L.A. Wildcats, suspended operations and terminated all employees during a 10-minute conference call, leading to widespread speculation that the league is done for good.
ESPN, which broadcast games, reported the league “currently has no plans to return” in 2021. In a statement to ESPN, the league said only: “Given the uncertainty of the current environment, the XFL has suspended operations and is evaluating next steps.”
The league suspended its debut season March 12 because of the coronavirus outbreak.
Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Fouts, a CBS analyst for more than decade, will not return next season, according to reports.
