A desert sculpture museum located in the Suwu Desert Scenic Area in northwest China's Gansu

Province has become a hot travel spot during the National Day holiday.

The museum covers an area of 1,051 mu ( about 70 hectares), with a total investment of about 120 million yuan. At present, there are 102 sculptures in the museum featuring modern and contemporary elements.

"It is the first time that I have been to this desert sculpture museum. The desert here is very majestic and magnificent. I have seen every sculpture in it and each sculpture has its rich messages to enlightens people. It is great to go sightseeing here," said Zhang Jiarui, a tourist.

"We came to Minqin from Lanzhou ( capital city of Gansu) and saw these artistic sculptures that have different shapes. We also took a lot of photos. When we go back, we can post them on social media platforms so that more people can see here, discover here and come here for sightseeing," said Wang Yanwen, another tourist.

In order to carry forward the tradition of desert prevention and control, spread the concept of green environmental protection and harmonious coexistence of human and desert and promote the highly integrated development of the county's cultural tourism industry, Minqin County had held several international desert sculpture creation camps, and invited domestic and foreign artists to create sculptures, and then built China's first desert sculpture museum.
