Browns expect Garrett to play against Eagles

-

NFL sacks leader Myles Garrett remained isolated from his teammates for the second straight day, but the Cleveland Browns expect him to return Friday and play this weekend against Philadelphia. Garrett, who has 91⁄

2 sacks, has stayed at home the past two days after not feeling well. As long as his next COVID- 19 test comes back negative, the standout defensive end will be allowed back at the team’s facility and to practice.

“Myles is scheduled to come back tomorrow. We will see,” Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said Thursday, emphasizing there are no givens in 2020. “With all of this, you just have to follow the protocols.”

The Browns are also without starting right tackle Jack Conklin and kicker Cody Parkey as they get ready to play the Eagles. Both were placed on the COVID list Wednesday after they were identified as high risk for having close contact with an outside practitioner who tested positive.

Two more 49ers on the COVID list

The San Francisco 49ers placed two more players, offensive lineman Hroniss Grasu and linebacker Joe Walker, on the COVID- 19 list.

The team has placed four players on the list this week. Defensive lineman Arik Armstead went on the list Monday following a positive test for the novel coronavirus. Defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw was added Wednesday and Grasu and Walker went on a day later.

Swift status uncertain

D’Andre Swift’s status for Sunday is doubt because he is dealing with a concussion issue, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The Detroit Lions rookie running back did not practice Thursday. He was not on the injury list Wednesday, a day after Lions offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell indicated that he planned to keep Swift as his starting running back, with Adrian Peterson and Kerryon Johnson coming off the bench.

Swift turned in his best game of the season last week with 81 yards in 16 carries and f ive receptions for 68 yards and a touchdown against Washington, in his first career start.

It’s unclear when Swift suffered his injury.
