Bengals’ Burrow hints knee injury will end season

Joe Burrow was looking forward to 2021 even as his rookie season was apparently ended by a scary knee injury Sunday.

“Thanks for all the love. ... See ya next year,” the Cincinnati Bengals’ rookie franchise quarterbac­k tweeted after he was carted off the field in the third quarter of a 20- 9 loss at Washington.

Burrow was hit by two Washington linemen after throwing a pass, and his left leg bent the wrong way.

Jake Scott, the star safety who was the MVP in the Super Bowl that completed the Miami Dolphins’ 1972 perfect season, died Thursday in Atlanta. He was 75. Scott died after a fall down a stairway that left him in a coma, former teammate Dick Anderson said.

Scott won back- to- back titles with Miami. He had two intercepti­ons in the Super Bowl against Washington as the 1972 Dolphins won 14- 7 to f inish 17- 0, the only NFL team to complete a season undefeated.

Floyd Little entered hospice care, according to former Syracuse teammate Patrick Killorin, who has provided health updates since Little’s cancer bout became public. Little, 78, had a Hall of Fame career as a Denver Broncos running back from 1967 to 1975.

Mitchell, Tatum get max deals

Guard Donovan Mitchell and the Utah Jazz agreed on a five- year max extension that guarantees him $ 163 million — the new paydays start kicking in with the 2021- 22 season — and could be worth $ 196 million if he reaches the All- NBA level.

Also, the Boston Celtics agreed to a five- year max extension with forward Jayson Tatum worth up to $ 195 million, according to reports.
