Three Grizzlies games called off

The Memphis Grizzlies are the latest NBA team that will have a coronaviru­s-related extended break from games, after the league announced that their next three contests will be postponed because of a lack of available players.

Friday’s game at Portland, along with home games Sunday and Monday against Sacramento, were pushed back, the NBA said.

The Washington Capitals will be without Alex Ovechkin and three other prominent players for at least the next four games because of COVID-19 protocols, coach Peter Laviolette said. Ovechkin, a three-time NHL MVP, is joined by center Evgeny Kuznetsov, goaltender Ilya Samsonov and defenseman Dmitry Orlov.

Ducks defenseman Josh Manson will be out about six weeks with an oblique muscle injury suffered Monday against Minnesota, the team announced.

Utilityman Daniel Robertson agreed to a $900,000, one-year contract with the Milwaukee Brewers that allows him to earn an additional $400,000 in performanc­e bonuses . ... Virginia Tech midfielder Daniel Pereira was the first overall pick in the three-round draft, going to expansion team Austin FC. UCLA midfielder Eric Iloski was also drafted, going to Vancouver with the 19th choice of the second round, one pick ahead of Cal State Fullerton forward Christian Pinzon, who went to the Chicago Fire.
