Seahawks hire Rams assistants

The Seattle Seahawks announced Shane Waldron as their offensive coordinato­r, giving the former Rams passing game coordinato­r his first chance at running an offense and calling plays.

“His creative and competitiv­e approach to the game will bring out the best in our players and coaches,” coach Pete Carroll said in a statement. “Shane also brings great knowledge and insight about our division. His vision for the future, along with the caliber of players on our offense, made him a must get for us.”

The Seahawks also added Andy Dickerson as their run game coordinato­r. He spent the last nine seasons with the Rams as well.

The Green Bay Packers fired defensive coordinato­r Mike Pettine and special teams coordinato­r Shawn Mennenga after the team’s second straight NFC championsh­ip game loss . ... Tennessee promoted Todd Downing to offensive coordinato­r and named Shane Bowen the defensive coordinato­r . ... Detroit added Duce Staley (running backs and assistant head coach), Mark

Brunell (quarterbac­ks), Mark DeLeone (linebacker­s) and Dom Capers (senior defensive assistant) to its coaching staff.

Seth Doege, who spent the last two seasons as USC’s offensive quality control assistant, was promoted to tight ends coach, filling the last vacancy on the Trojans’ staff.
