Big Sean offers up former home of Slash

- By Jack Flemming

Now that the pirate-ship chandeliers and faux alligator wallpaper have been removed, Big Sean is ready to sell. The rapper, who did some major redecorating after buying a Beverly Hills mansion from rock legend Slash four years ago, listed the home for $12.5 million.

That’s a $3.8-million jump from what he paid in 2017, but the boosted price tag represents a major remodel overseen by the hiphop star. Busy interiors with multicolored rooms have been swapped for simple living spaces throughout the three-story floor plan.

At just under 11,000 square feet, the residence sticks with its Mediterranean roots, with an exterior of white stucco, clay tile and wrought-iron accents. Inside, a two-story foyer leads to formal living and dining rooms, as well as a double-island kitchen and family room with a wet bar.

The lower level is designed for entertaining, with a recording studio, 13-person movie theater and nightclub with a dancing pole. Elsewhere are seven bedrooms and 7.5 bathrooms, including a primary suite with a fireplace, dressing room and balcony.

Two staircases navigate the floor plan, which also consists of an office and library.

Arched openings, wood beams and chandeliers touch up the dining patio out back. The covered space leads to a landscaped backyard with a swimming pool and spa. Manicured hedges line the perimeter.

Big Sean, whose real name is Sean Michael-Leonard Anderson, was born in Santa Monica and grew up in Detroit. The rapper has signed deals with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music, Def Jam Recordings and Roc Nation and released five studio albums over the last decade, including 2020’s “Detroit 2.”

James Harris and David Parnes of the Agency hold the listing.

Athletes look to work out a deal

In Beverly Hills, hockey star P.K. Subban and Olympic great Lindsey Vonn are asking $7.175 million for an Italian-style villa they bought last April for $6.75 million, records show.

The skater and skier were engaged in 2019 but recently parted ways. They didn’t make any changes to the house during their brief stay, but according to the listing, a guesthouse that is yet to be built will be included in the sale.

The half-acre estate centers on a 5,500-square-foot home with a formal style. Out back, the L-shaped residence frames a swimming pool and spa topped by palm trees and lined with hedges.

Inside, living spaces feature a dramatic design palette of skylights, columns, tall ceilings and walls of glass. A pair of massive marble islands anchor the

kitchen, and the living room has a custom stone fireplace.

Elsewhere are four bedrooms, six bathrooms, a spacious office and formal dining room. Tech amenities include high-definition cameras for security and a Tesla charger in the three-car garage.

Subban, 31, is a threetime all-star defenseman who currently plays for the New Jersey Devils after stints with the Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators. In 2019, he launched PeeK Productions and starred in “The PK Project,” the production company’s debut effort.

Vonn, 36, reportedly got into the production game herself two years ago with the launch of Après Productions. The former alpine skiing champion, who retired in 2019, was the overall World Cup champion from 2008 to 2010 and again in 2012. During her career, she won three Olympic medals, including a gold in the downhill competition at the 2010 Vancouver Games.

Bob Hurwitz of Hurwitz James Co. holds the listing.

DJ lists home with recording studio

Now that he’s settled into Kid Rock’s former estate in Malibu, Diplo is offering his Hollywood Hills home for sale at $2.695 million.

The DJ, whose real name is Thomas Pentz, moved to the coast late last year, shelling out $13.15 million for a Balinese-inspired mansion in Point Dume that was owned for years by the musician. Although his new place has plenty of space, the Hollywood Hills home offers better views with four stories of living spaces overlooking the city below.

Perched on a Beachwood Canyon cul-de-sac, the canyonside retreat takes full advantage of its scenic setting with walls of glass and multiple terraces. At the very top, a penthouse suite features a lofty office and spa bathroom.

The lower levels hold three bedrooms and a handful of whitewashed living

spaces, including an office, yoga retreat and soundproof recording studio. Design firm ASH NYC handled the staging, and the colorful furnishings can be purchased along with the home.

Two terraces hang off the upper levels, and there’s also a dining patio, wood-covered courtyard and outdoor meditation area below.

In addition to his solo work, Diplo is known for his electronic projects Major Lazer and Jack Ü. The 42year-old boasts collaborations with Gwen Stefani, Britney Spears, Madonna, Justin Bieber and Usher and has racked up three Grammys since 2016 with hits including “Heartless,” “Electricity” and “Where Are Ü

Now.”

Records show he bought the home for $2.425 million in 2016.

Eric Lavey of Sotheby’s International Realty holds the listing.

Model buys and lists in the Valley

Cara Delevingne has been busy in the San Fernando Valley. About a year and a half after buying a traditional-style spot in Studio City, the model-actress is listing her other home in the neighborhood for $3.75 million.

The one she’s selling is markedly different from her new place, which is a dramatic 8,000-square-foot mansion

purchased in late 2019 for $7 million through a limited liability company. This one’s about half the size, at 4,021 square feet, but offers a bit more flair with bold splashes of color and custom wallpaper.

She shared the home with her sister, model Poppy Delevingne. Records show they bought it four years ago from Jared Leto, with whom Cara Delevingne starred in the 2016 film “Suicide Squad.”

The sisters decked out the place during their stay, adding a Playboy pinball machine, a vintage bar inspired by “Gilligan’s Island” and a custom lounge with carpeted walls, they told Architectural Digest.

Vibrant tiles mark two stories of living spaces that include a formal dining room, game room and screening room. The centerisland kitchen has hardwood floors and splashes of marble.

Set on a leafy quarteracre lot, the house extends to a secluded backyard with palm trees and a tile swimming pool. A wraparound deck overlooks the grounds.

Ann Eysenring of the Agency holds the listing. Records show that Ernie Carswell of Douglas Elliman held the listing on the home Delevingne bought in 2019, and Rick Tyberg, also with Douglas Elliman, represented her.

A native of England, Delevingne was twice named model of the year at the British Fashion Awards. The 28-year-old has been acting for nearly a decade, starring in “Anna Karenina” in 2012 before more recent roles in “Paper Towns” and “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.”

Jazz legend wraps up lengthy sale

Kenny G, the jazz saxophonist who ranks as one of the bestselling musical artists of all time, finally found a fan of his Studio City home. He sold the place for $2.765 million, shy of the $4 million he was asking in 2018.

The leafy farmhouse in Longridge Estates was never his main home; that’s found in Malibu, where he owns a bluff-top compound near Point Dume composed of two properties that he purchased in 1998 and 2000 for a combined $15.5 million.

At half an acre, his Studio City retreat makes the most of its space with a main house and guesthouse that doubles as a soundproof recording studio under vaulted ceilings. A variety of water features fill out the grounds including a pond, waterfall, swimming pool and spa.

Flagstones cover the porch and continue into the foyer, descending to voluminous spaces with whitewashed beams and hardwood floors. A skylight brightens the kitchen, and a stacked stone fireplace runs floor to ceiling in the great room.

Upstairs, the primary suite includes a sitting area, fireplace, balcony, walk-in closet and sauna. It’s one of four bedrooms and three bathrooms in about 3,900 square feet.

The balcony overlooks the landscaped backyard, where a trellis-topped patio leads to a putting green.

Kenny G, whose full name is Kenneth Gorelick, has sold 75 million records over his decorated career dating to the 1980s. The 64year-old has released 17 studio albums, including 1986’s “Duotones,” and won a Grammy in 1994 for his song “Forever in Love.”

Matt Epstein of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices California Properties held the listing. H. Blair Chang of the Agency represented the buyer.
