Rockets-Pacers game postponed

The game between the Houston Rockets and the Indiana Pacers on Saturday night was postponed because of continued utility shortages in the area from this week’s winter storm.

It’s the second straight home postponeme­nt for the Rockets. The team said the decision was made after discussion­s with Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and the NBA.

Isaiah Thomas scored 19 points in his first competitiv­e game in more than a year, helping the U.S. to a 9377 victory over the Bahamas in a FIBA AmeriCup qualifying game in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

A limited number of fans will be allowed to attend all rounds of next month’s NCAA men’s basketball tournament in Indiana. The Philadelph­ia Eagles released veteran receiver DeSean Jackson, the team announced.

Jackson, 34, was reacquired in 2019 by the Eagles, who drafted him in 2008. The three-time Pro Bowl selection missed 11 games in 2020 with an ankle injury after playing in three games in 2019 with a core muscle injury.

The Green Bay Packers released linebacker Christian Kirksey and offensive tackle Rick Wagner, two of their main veteran freeagent additions from a year ago . ... The Carolina Panthers are releasing veteran safety Tre Boston, defensive end Stephen Weatherly and punter Michael Palardy in salary-cap, cost-cutting moves, according to the AP.

A week after UCLA quarterbac­ks coach Dana Bible retired, the Bruins hired San Jose State’s Ryan Gunderson to replace him, bringing on board one of the fastest rising assistant coaches in the country.

Gunderson, the Spartans’ quarterbac­ks coach and passing game coordinato­r, presided over one of the nation’s top passing attacks last season, San Jose State averaging 298.4 yards through the air to rank No. 19 nationally.
