Marshall L. Monroe departed this life on January 26, 2021 in his residence at the Burlington apartments in downtown Los Angeles, CA. He was born to his mother Mattie Monroe Johnson Gilison on December 22, 1956 in Richmond Virginia. He was preceded in death by his mother Mattie Gillison his stepfather Charles Gilligan, his older brother Frankie Monroe, his younger brother Irvin Monroe and his nephew Terrell Anderson.

Marshall attended George Wythe High school and went to Richmond Barber school both located in Richmond, VA. Marshall was employed at Philip Morris and worked in the dining department from 1974 to 1978. He loved playing street basketball in Southside (Blackwell) Richmond, VA, although his favorite game was playing chess with his cousins.

Marshall moved to Los Angeles in 1983.

Marshall is survived by his older sister Esta Anderson and his younger sister Shirley A. Leftdwrige, also a host of nephews and nieces : Calvin Anderson (Latoya) Anthony Anderson (Telisha) Martina Chiles Gregory, Mona Monroe, Mattie Leach Webster and Willie Leftdwrige He had many cousins from Virginia to California.

A special thanks to his cousins Jacqueline Monroe, Raymond Monroe and Shawn Monroe for their outstandin­g support during our lost to our brother Marshall L. Monroe. NOTE: There will be no services due to Covid-19
