Three takeaways on the Lakers

- — Dan Woike

▪ The Lakers couldn’t out-defend the ultra-aggressive Knicks, and their offense wasn’t close to being good enough, a combination of turnovers and missed shots dooming them in their first game with New York this season.

▪ Frank Vogel turned to Marc Gasol in the fourth quarter for a spark, the Lakers’ now third-string center hitting a three-point shot. That basket equaled the production of Andre Drummond and Montrezl Harrell combined.

▪ After missing his last two games because of a minor calf strain, Kyle Kuzma was back in the lineup, scoring 14 points. The Lakers, though, were minus-26 in his almost 30 minutes of court time.
