NBA draft prospect dies in crash

Kentucky basketball player Terrence Clarke, who had recently completed his freshman season and was preparing for the NBA draft, died Thursday after sustaining fatal injuries from a car accident in the San Fernando Valley, the school confirmed. He was 19.

Police told Lexington, Ky., TV station WKYT the accident occurred at 2:10 p.m. on Winnetka Avenue. LAPD said Clarke was traveling at a high rate of speed when he ran a red light, hit another car turning left and continued on to hit a pole and block wall.

Police said Clarke was not wearing his seat belt properly.

The Boston-born Clarke had signed with Klutch Sports and was working out in L.A.

College football teams will have to go for two points after touchdowns starting with the second overtime possession, and beginning in the third round each team will get one play to score from the three-yard line. The NCAA playing rules oversight panel approved a proposal made last month by the playing rules committee to tweak the overtime format.
