Tropical storm approaching Japan
A tropical storm churning its way toward Japan could put a damper on the Tokyo Olympics next week.
Tropical storm Nepartak in the Philippine Sea is expected to make landfall north of Tokyo about 3 p.m. local time Tuesday. The storm has been moving directly toward Japan after forming out of a tropical depression north-northeast of Guam on Friday.
Nepartak packs sustained 40-mph winds and there’s a chance some outdoor venues at the Olympics could be forced to delay or postpone events.
