Born in Tulsa, OK June 2, 1929, Passed away in San Diego, July 18, 2021.

Fred was a Physicist, who obtained a Bachlor’s degree from Caltech and PHD from Princton. Following graduate school, Fred returned to California, with Carol where he spent his 32 year carreer with North American Aviation/Rockwell Internatio­nal in the area of Semiconduc­tor research. Throughout his career, Fred developed many working relationsh­ips with other scientists worldwide and he and Carol were able to travel to many parts of the world, including a year in Denmark. Following retirement from Rockwell, Fred and Carol spent a year and half in Freiburg Germany, where Fred worked for the university, and was able to travel extensivel­y throughout Europe. Upon return from Germany, Fred was active in the Caltech alumni associatio­n, as well working with graduate students for many years. Fred’s other interests included woodworkin­g, wine tasting, reading, especiaill­y mystery novels, traveling both in the US and Internatio­nally. Throughout his life, Fred used every oppurtunit­y as a teaching moment for anybody that was willing to listen and learn.

Fred was pre-deceased by his wife, Carol, and is survived by daughters Nancy and Barbara, son Mark, daughter-in-law Lisa, grandson Erik and sister Jane.

Memorial services will be held 10 a.m. on Saturday July 31, at Prince of Peace Episcopal Church in Woodland Hills followed by a reception at the church.
