FARASEY, William Q. “Dirk”

William Q. “Dirk” Farasey passed away peacefully on July 8, 2021 in Lafayette, Louisiana at the age of 89 due to complications of a stroke. He is survived by his brother, James D. Farasey; niece, Grace Farasey Delos Reyes (Jeremy) of Lahaina, Hawaii, and numerous extended family members.

Dirk was preceded in death by his parents, William and Gertrude Farasey.

Dirk served honorably in the U. S. Navy (1952-1956) and graduated from the University of California in 1959. Upon graduation, he began his career with Maersk Steamship Lines, retiring in 1991 as equipment manager in Long Beach, California. His love of travel began with his time in the Navy and continued throughout his life as did his love for his adopted State of California.

He is remembered for his devotion to the Catholic Church, his humor, zest for life, and his prudent economy of expenditures.

A Celebration of his life will be held in Los Angeles, California at DignityLos Angeles, 126 South Avenue SixtyFour, Los Angeles, California 90042 on Sunday, August 1, 2021 at 5:30 PM Pacific Time.

Inurnment will take place at Forest Lawn - Glendale on Monday, August 2, 2021 at 12:00 PM Pacific Time.
