Lakers add new trainer to staff

The Lakers hired Roger Sancho to be their head athletic trainer.

Sancho spent seven seasons with the Golden State Warriors, including the last five as an assistant athletic trainer.

The Lakers didn’t renew the contract of head athletic trainer Nina Hsieh in June.

As expected, David Fizdale and John Lucas III have been added to Frank Vogel’s coaching staff.

Lucas played eight NBA seasons for six teams. He was a player developmen­t coach with the Minnesota Timberwolv­es from 2017 to 2019.

The Boston Celtics acquired forward Juancho Hernangome­z from the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for guards Carsen Edwards and Kris Dunn .As part of the transactio­n, Memphis will have the right to swap a 2026 second-round draft pick with Boston’s second-round pick that year . ... The Grizzlies waived center Marc Gasol days after acquiring his rights in a trade with the Lakers . ... Lisa Byington is making history as the Milwaukee Bucks’ new play-by-play voice on their television broadcasts, the first woman to work as a fulltime television play-by-play announcer for any major men’s pro sports team.

UCLA gymnast Samantha Sakti signed a $10,000 name, image and likeness deal with warehouse retailer Sam’s Club, which is signing only athletes named Sam.
