Timmy Allen and Andrew Jones scored 15 points apiece as California Baptist lost its first game.

No. 9 Memphis 69, Virginia Tech 61:

DeAndre Williams led Memphis with 16 points and 10 rebounds in the NIT Season Tip-Off in New York.

Emoni Bates added nine points, all in the second half, making four free throws in the final minute for Memphis (5-0).

Fabian White Jr. scored 15 points to lead Houston in the Maui Invitation­al third-place game in Las Vegas.

No. 21 Seton Hall 62, California 59:

Jared Rhoden scored 21 points as Seton Hall won the third-place game at the Fort Myers (Fla.) Tip-Off.

No. 23 Florida 71, Ohio St. 68:

Tyree Appleby hit a three-pointer at the buzzer for Florida in the Fort Myers Tip-Off title game.

Iowa St. 82, No. 25 Xavier 70:

Izaiah Brockingto­n scored 30 points in the upset in the NIT Season Tip-Off.
