MOLLOY III, John Joseph

John “Jay” Joseph Molloy III passed away suddenly at his home in West Hills, CA on November 9, 2021. He was a loving husband, father, grandfathe­r, brother, colleague, teammate, and friend. He was born August 8, 1946 in San Antonio, TX to John Joseph Molloy, Jr. and Nadine Molloy. He was the eldest sibling of three and loved his brother Tim and sister Caye very much. He excelled in academics and athletics, especially baseball and football. He was captain of his Bishop Reicher Catholic High School football team and led them to a state championsh­ip. He matriculat­ed to USC, where he became president of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. “Redman,” as his tightly knit fraternity brothers called him, married his college sweetheart, Joan “Suzy” Susan Molloy, two days after he graduated from USC in 1968. They remained married for 50 years and had 6 children: Kelly, Susie, Sean, Mike, Casey and Ryan. He went on to earn his Juris Doctorate from USC and served honorably in the Army National Guard during the Vietnam era. He was a brilliant attorney and practiced corporate law for 50 years, first becoming a young partner at Sheppard Mullin in Los Angeles and finishing his career as inhouse counsel for his son Michael’s two companies, Socal Climate Control and Diamond Solar in Los Angeles. While facing multiple health challenges in the last years of his life and losing his wife of 50 years in 2018, Jay valiantly carried on and lived life to the fullest. He loved spending time with his children and grandchild­ren, was a devout Catholic and thanked God every day for the gift of life. He will be missed by all who knew him and remembered by his great sense of Irish humor and thunderous laugh. He is survived by his daughter, Kelly and husband Doug, daughter Susan, son Sean, son Michael and wife Regina, son Ryan and wife Allison, grandchild­ren Finnian, Catie, Devon, Zachary, Abigail, Riley, Micky and Colin, sister Caye, nieces Erin and Catherine, nephews Kyle and Charles. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Funeral Services will be held on December 17th, 2021, at 12:30pm at Mission Hills Catholic Mortuary Chapel 11160 Stranwood Ave. Mission Hills, CA 91345
