Seven golden monkeys born in Shennongjia National Park in late March
Seven baby golden snub-nosed monkeys - a species endemic to China - were recently born in Shennongjia National Park in the central Hubei Province.
The seven babies were born in 10 days in late March, and it was the largest number of golden monkey births ever recorded at the park.
Staff at the park have been providing postnatal care to the mother monkeys, including preparing nutritious food to help them make enough milk for their babies.
"Sweet potatoes are richer in calories and able to improve their physical strength. Apples can provide vitamin C for them," said Wu Feng, a staff member.
Thanks to increased forestation in the Shennongjia Forestry District, the number of golden monkeys there has reached nearly 1,500, official data shows.
