Going outside to find healing

-

Re “Self-realization joins her on the path,” Column One, May 3

Lovely story by reporter Diana Marcum about Angelica Glass’ poetic wanderings in Santa Cruz and her remembrances of living in a filthy house with seven siblings, a violent mother and a passive father.

May we all have a Mrs. Sutherland, Glass’ kind childhood neighbor, to introduce niceness in our world when there is none.

Marcum did a beautiful job sharing Glass’ adult life as she walks to remember her childhood memories.

Thank you for the story about Angelica Glass.

Her journey reminded me of what John Muir said: “I only went out for a walk, and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.” She did, and we got to go with her for a brief moment. Nancy Beverly
