They can offer to testify too

Re “Don’t confuse them for real heroes,” letters, June 15

I find it amazing that there are so many complaints among Republicans about the makeup of the House Jan. 6 committee and how it was put together.

Republicans want potential witnesses such as Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) to have a seat on the committee to eliminate Democrat bias and so the former president receives a “fair” hearing.

Is it not clear to them that former President Trump, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Bakersfield), Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Jordan can volunteer to appear before the committee, be sworn in and tell their side of the story for as long as they want?

If Republicans in Congress are so enamored of fairness and the truth, why don’t they just offer to go to the committee and tell their side?
