Haslem, 42, will return for 20th Heat season

Kobe Bryant. Dirk Nowitzki. And now Udonis Haslem.

Miami’s captain is returning to the Heat for a 20th season, he announced. It’s a one-year deal worth $2.9 million.

Nowitzki played all 21 of his NBA seasons with the Dallas Mavericks, Bryant spent all 20 of his seasons with the Lakers, and, when he appears in his next game, Haslem will join them as a player spending at least two decades in the league and all with one franchise.

Tim Duncan spent 19 seasons with San Antonio, and John Stockton spent 19 with Utah.

Haslem, 42, is a three-time NBA champion with Miami and the franchise’s all-time leader in rebounds.

Konnor McClain won her first U.S. gymnastics national championsh­ip, rallying past Shilese Jones in the finals at Tampa, Fla. McClain, 17, posted a two-day total of 112.750 points, just ahead of Jones at 111.900. UCLA’s Jordan Chiles, part of the U.S. team that won silver at the Tokyo Olympics last summer, finished third.

Indiana State announced that three students died in a single-vehicle accident. A release from the university’s athletic department said five people were in the vehicle when it crashed, including several football players. Police were working to identify the three who died. Vigo County Sheriff John Plasse said the crash occurred about 1:30 a.m. Sunday in Riley, Ind . ... Tyler Shough was named Texas Tech’s starting quarterbac­k by new coach Joey McGuire.

The father of the Little League World Series player who seriously injured his head when he fell out of his top bunk in the dorms at Williamspo­rt, Pa., said there is a chance his son can make a full recovery when he returns home to Utah. Jace Oliverson said his 12-yearold-son, Easton, was expected to fly back Tuesday to Utah and will remain in a hospital there. “We feel very fortunate,” the father said.

Easton Oliverson, a pitcher and outfielder for the Snow Canyon team from Santa Clara, Utah, suffered the injury last Monday.

The Snow Canyon team was eliminated Sunday with a 10-2 loss to the team from Iowa.

In English Premier League soccer, Leeds took a 33rd-minute lead on U.S. winger Brenden Aaronson’s goal and won 3-0 over visiting Chelsea. The team coached by American Jesse Marsch is in third place . ... Manchester City rallied from two goals down to tie host Newcastle 3-3.
