LAFC puts end to losing streak

LAFC’s losing streak is no more after the club beat visiting Real Salt Lake 2-0 to end its three-game skid Sunday.

After a scoreless first half, Ryan Hollingshe­ad, the top-scoring defender in MLS, put LAFC out front in the 49th minute, netting his fifth goal of the season.

Cristian Arango continued his dominance over Real Salt Lake in the 68th minute, extending LAFC’s lead to 2-0 with his 15th goal of the season. Arango entered Sunday’s matchup having scored two goals in each of his first two matches against Real Salt Lake (11-9-9).

LAFC (19-7-3) moved into a tie for the Supporters’ Shield (most regular-season points) with the Philadelph­ia Union.

LAFC had won seven in a row before losing three straight ahead of Sunday’s matchup.
