Giants’ Flores gets new deal

Infielder Wilmer Flores and the San Francisco Giants agreed Monday to a contract that guarantees $16.5 million over the next three seasons and could be worth up to $21.5 million.

Flores gets salaries of $6.5 million each of the 2023 and 2024 seasons. The deal includes an $8.5million club option for 2025. If the team declines, Flores has a $3.5million player option.

Flores, 31, entered Monday hitting .235 with a career high-tying 18 homers and career-best 65 RBIs.

The Tampa Bay Rays added right-hander Cooper Criswell asa substitute player to start the opener of a pivotal series against Toronto, and also selected pitchers Kevin Herget and Javy Guerra from triple-A Durham . ... After repeated setbacks, Miami Marlins outfielder Jorge Soler (lower back spasms) will be shut down for the remainder of the season.
