Galaxy fall apart in the second half

- wire reports

With a chance to move back into a playoff spot, the Galaxy gave up three second-half goals and couldn’t generate any offense in a 3-0 road loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps on Wednesday.

Ryan Gauld, Pedro Vite and Tosaint Ricketts scored for the Whitecaps, who lost to the Galaxy 5-2 in Carson a month ago and had scored only four goals since then.

The loss kept the Galaxy three points behind Real Salt Lake, which earlier lost to Austin 3-0, for the seventh and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Galaxy dominated possession at 67.9% and generated nine corner kicks but managed only two shots on goal.
