Car-to-car shooting sends 1 to hospital, jams traffic on 405

A shooting on the 405 Freeway in Van Nuys left one person injured and caused a major traffic jam during the evening rush hour Monday, according to authoritie­s.

Dispatcher­s received calls around 3:24 p.m. of a possible car-to-car shooting on the northbound 405 north of Victory Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Initially, officers at the scene could not find anyone involved in the shooting, but they received a call about a possible victim at a hospital, authoritie­s said.

There, officers found a man who was being treated for a gunshot wound he suffered during the shooting, according to the CHP. The man’s injury wasn’t considered life-threatenin­g.

Investigat­ors shut down all lanes of the northbound 405 north of Victory for about 1 1⁄2 hours while they investigat­ed, the CHP said.

All lanes had reopened as of 7 p.m., CHP Officer Edgar Figueroa said.

No arrest had been made as of Monday night, Figueroa said.
