No. 1 Houston surges late
Marcus Sasser scored a career-high 31 points, Jamal Shead added 20 points and six rebounds, and No. 1 Houston used a huge second half to beat South Florida 8377 on Wednesday night.
Sasser scored 25 points and Shead had 13 of Houston’s 46 second-half points as the Cougars won their eighth straight.
No. 4 Alabama 84, at No. 15 Arkansas 69: Mark Sears scored 26 points and the Crimson Tide went on two big second-half runs.
at No. 25 Marquette 82, No. 6 Connecticut 76: Oso Ighodaro scored 19 points and showed some uncharacteristic free-throw accuracy down the stretch as Marquette won its fifth straight.
at No. 10 Texas 79, No. 17 Texas Christian 75: Marcus Carr made the go-ahead three with a minute left and Sir’Jabari Rice hit three free throws over the final six seconds to lift Texas.
at No. 12 Xavier 90, Creighton 87: Souley Boum scored 26 points and Colby Jones scored 20 as Xavier won its 10th straight game.
at No. 16 Miami 88, Boston College 72: Isaiah Wong scored 22 to move into 10th place on the school’s career scoring list with 1,535 points.
at Texas A&M 82, No. 20 Missouri 64: Tyrece Radford scored 16 points and Wade Taylor IV added 14 as Texas A&M built a huge lead and held off a comeback.
No. 22 Charleston 71, at North Carolina Wilmington 69: Dalton Bolon scored 16 points and College of Charleston extended the nation’s longest winning streak to 16.
Women
No. 4 Connecticut 82, at St. John’s 52: Geno Auriemma returned to the bench and Azzi Fudd to the lineup in the Huskies’ rout.
Oklahoma State 70, at No. 18 Baylor 65: Lior Garzon scored 18 points, Naomi Alnatas had 11 of her 17 in the fourth and Oklahoma State ended its 13-game losing streak against Baylor.
